Anthropic Says Claude Assisted Cyberattacks and Military Weapons Development

Anthropic has detailed several cases in which users turned to Claude for cyber espionage and military-related work. The company says one Russia-linked group used the model during an operation targeting organisations in Ukraine and Europe, while a China-linked group used it for intrusions, vulnerability research and intelligence gathering. Anthropic also identified six weapons-related cases spanning China, Russia and Yemen, covering software for missiles, drones, electronic warfare and an anti-torpedo system, along with procurement and intelligence activity across separate investigations reported.
