People have been urged to avoid the area after the man from the UK was believed to have been attacked from behind with a hammer while walking through the French capital with his family. He said the attacker has been arrested and the injured person was being treated by emergency services. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mr Darmanin: “The police have just courageously arrested an assailant attacking passers-by in Paris, around the Quai de Grenelle. “One deceased person and one injured person treated by the Paris Fire Brigade. Please avoid the area.” According to local media, who quoted a police source, the attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest”) before being arrested and is a French national. Le Parisien is reporting that a knife and hammer were used in the attack, leaving another British tourist injured. It’s added that the person who died was also a tourist with dual German and Philippine nationality.
