Brit martial arts boxer smashes skull and limbs in lorry crash in Thailand as desperate family raise £60,000 for surgery

A BRIT martial arts boxer is weathering the fight of his life after smashing his skull and limbs in a horror crash while riding a motorbike in Thailand. Christian Richardson, from York, had just won his first Muay Thai contest when he was struck down by a lorry as his desperate family try to raise £60,000 for his surgery. His sister Emmy Watson says her younger brother “miraculously didn’t die or have any brain or spinal injuries” from the shocking incident. Chris was leaving a coffee shop in Thailand when he was hit by a pickup truck, and suffered “many injuries and broken bones”. He was treated at a hospital in Koh Samui for three days before being airlifted to Bangkok. Emmy says they are on tenterhooks waiting to find out whether his insurance company will fork out for his medical bills – which she says is “unlikely”. She has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for his surgery – with the first two days of treatment costing an eye-watering £25,000. “The insurance company has been assessing the case, although we think it unlikely that they will pay, a decision has not been made yet and as a result our family has had to pay out significant sums of money,” Emmy wrote on the page.
