A BRITISH tourist has drowned after jumping into a river during a family holiday in Turkey. The victim was on holiday with his family in Manavgat, in Antalya when the tragedy struck. The man drowned after jumping into a river in Turkey The holidaymaker was seen jumping the Manavgat River from a pier near a riverside restaurant before disappearing into the water. Emergency services with divers then entering the water due to a lack of visibility. The man’s body was later pulled out of the river, near to where he jumped from. His body was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy. An investigation into the man’s death is ongoing. Antalya Province, in southwestern Turkey, is the centre of the country’s tourism industry and accounts for about 30 per cent of foreign tourists visiting the country.
