US, UK, and European Union sanctions on Russia over the special operation in Ukraine have sent oil prices soaring to levels not seen since just before the 2008 "Credit Crunch" recession. Russian oil firms are ironically set to profit while consumers in the West are already seeing their fuel and electricity bills skyrocket.
