A HOTEL worker who was allegedly raped and strangled to death was forced to send a reassuring message to her boyfriend, police say. Anastasia Patricia-Rubinska, 27, was found dead on Sunday on the Greek island of Kos after a week-long hunt. Investigators say Anastasia, from Poland, sent a text to her boyfriend warning him she was in danger. But another one followed minutes later saying she was fine – and cops fear she was either forced to send it or it was sent by her killer. Anastasia was seen leaving a local cafe with a man from Bangladesh on June 12. The 32-year-old suspect, named as Salahuddin S, has since been arrested for her murder. When police detained him, he had scratch marks on his arms and face. He denied all charges against him in court on Monday. Anastasia’s body was found only 1km from his home and DNA found at the property has been matched to her. Local media reported that strands of blonde hair, a stained shirt and a flight ticket to Italy purchased after the victim’s disappearance were found at the suspect’s home. His belongings and the victim’s mobile phone – found without a sim card on a remote road – have been sent for testing. Local media, Protothema, revealed that Anastasia’s remains were found under a tree hidden within a black bag in wetlands within the Alykes area. Her body was allegedly naked and wrapped in a sheet after she was cuffed, raped and strangled. Anastasia had moved from Wroclaw, a city in western Poland, to Greece to work as a waitress. She had been living in Kos for over a month before she vanished. The young hotel worker is believed to have gone to a party on June 12 before calling her boyfriend to tell him she was too drunk. They arranged to meet one another but she failed to turn up, which prompted her Polish partner, 28, to call the police to report her disappearance. The Bangladeshi suspect has been charged with kidnapping so far. His Pakistani roommate is also under investigation. According to reports, Salahuddin S admitted to having sex with the victim at his home and to dropping her off somewhere else later on. The investigation continues. A 32-year-old man has been arrested over her murderCEN
