Coinbase Secures CFTC Clearinghouse Approval to Enable 24/7 USDC Settlement

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has registered Coinbase Clearing LLC as a Derivatives Clearing Organisation, completing Coinbase’s regulated US derivatives structure across exchange, brokerage and clearing. The company plans to use USDC as collateral and offer round-the-clock settlement through the new clearinghouse. The registration covers fully collateralised futures, options on futures and swaps, but does not extend to Coinbase’s margined derivatives business.
