The three-year-old girl was rushed to hospital after being rescued from the coffin at a church in Aurora, Philippines, on Sunday, but she tragically died the next day. The three-year-old had been suffering from a severe fever and was brought to the clinic in the town for medical help last Friday, the Philippine Star reports. Aurora police chief Heidil Teelan said she was pronounced dead by doctors by the hospital on the island of Mindanao at 9am on Saturday. During the funeral, Teelan said a neighbour who removed the cover of the coffin to arrange her body saw her head move. “This prompted them to check and confirmed the girl had pulse and was alive,” Teelan said. Teelan said: “We really can not make confirmation on the status of the girl but based on the observation of the police personnel I deployed it appear the girl remained in a state of comatose in their house.” Doctors were unable to save the girl after she was pulled from the coffin with a pulse and she sadly died on Monday. Dr Mary Silyne Asor-Cabahug, municipal health officer for Aurora, said she found “no signs of life”.
