DNA found in suspect’s car confirmed as murdered model’s as ex-husband Alex Kwong appears in court

MURDERED model Abby Choi’s DNA is confirmed to have been found inside her former brother-in-law’s blood-stained car, court documents reveal. Abby’s former spouse and father of two of her children Alex Kwong Kong-chi, 28, his father Kwong Kau, 65, and elder brother Anthony Kwong Kong-kit, 32, are all behind bars on a joint murder charge. Kwong’s mother Jenny Li Sui-heung, 63, was also charged with perverting the course of justice and denied bail, South China Morning Post reports. Two others are accused of helping to assist Alex Kwong’s escape. The prosecution has confirmed that all the suspects connected to the murder have been arrested. The mother-of-four was first reported missing on February 22 having not been seen since the day before. Police made the gruesome discovery of Choi’s partial remains two days later at a Hong Kong flat being rented by her former father-in-law. Body parts, including legs found in a fridge and a head in found in a cooking pot were found in the following days in what cops described as a house set up as a butchery site. As the investigation into her horrific death unfolded further, a seven-seater blood-splattered vehicle police believe Abby was attacked in was pictured being towed away from the scene. Today, the court heard that the bloodstains found within Kwong’s brother’s car belonged to the model, as well as the human skull and legs found in the Tai Po village house. The prosecutors have also asked for more time to fully investigate over 30 items including electric saws and knives that were found at the home of horrors. The accused will appear in court again on July 31. The successful model had more than 80,000 followers on Instagram, regularly mingled with celebrities and had featured on the front cover of a magazine in Monaco only a week before her death. Abby had married her partner, Alex Kwong when she was 18 in 2012 but they divorced several years after. Yet, it is reported that she was still financially supporting her ex-husband and his parents. Authorities believe that she had financial disputes with her ex-husband and his family over a property costing £10.7million which she had planned to sell. Superintendent Alan Chung said in February: “Police also have found that the flat was arranged by cold-blooded killers meticulously. “Tools that are used to dismember human bodies were found in the flat, including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves, and masks.” Police quickly arrested Abby’s former spouse as he attempted to flee the city on a speedboat days after her remains were found. He was snared with around £50,000 on him as well as several luxury watches worth more than £400,000, reported CNA.
