Italian media reports he was hospitalised with pneumonia after a diagnosis of leukaemia. He was admitted into hospital with heart problems and shortness of breath. Leukaemia is an aggressive and fast-acting cancer of the white blood cells. The former Prime Minister is now undergoing intensive therapy to battle the disease, Corriere della Sera reported.
