Heartstopping moment a huge crocodile jumps into couple’s boat after chasing their fishing line

THIS is the terrifying moment when a couple escaped a crocodile by the skin of its teeth – after it jumped into their fishing boat. Kathryn Dyball and her fiancé Cameron Bates were fishing off their 4.6m long vessel near Koolan Island, in the Northern Territory in March. Kathryn said: “The whole time we were out there, we would go, ‘Is that a croc or is that a stick?’ “Then, the stick turned around.” The couple filmed the moment the crocodile was drawn to their boat by the fishing line. The dangerous beast is seen swimming quickly up to the vessel before snapping its jaws at the fishing line. The crocodile’s attention is then caught by the mobile phone filming over the side of the boat. For a moment it manages to hold onto the edge of the vessel with its two forefeet before it sinks back into the water. The tinnie then jets away leaving behind the crocodile. “It was an absolute shock, it only lasted about two seconds, but it felt like time stood still,” Kathryn said.  She added the near death experience would make her think twice about being complacent in rivers in the Northern Territory.  “They should be respected… we won’t be making that mistake again,” she said.  The video has since been shared on TikTok and has racked in nearly 204k views, and over 8.3k likes. Kathryn and Cameron aren’t the only ones to have had near-death experiences with crocs. Australia’s Northern Territory is known for its deadly creatures – including crocodiles up to 20ft-long. In 2017, terrified tourists were left stunned when a saltwater crocodile leapt straight out of the Australian river just inches from a boat.
