TRIBUTES have been paid to a heroic Dad who died after saving his four-year-old son from drowning when their kayak capsized. Peter Flinch, 33, was forced to hold his toddler in the air and tread water when the disaster struck in Gwandalan, Australia at 5.30pm on Friday. gofundmePeter Flinch was described as ‘hero’ after he died saving his son[/caption] gofundmeThe 33-year-old was married and had two children[/caption] The father of two managed to keep his son afloat until onlookers arrived on the scene who quickly dragged the struggling pair to shore. But, despite the best efforts of paramedics, Peter was sadly unable to be resuscitated and died at the scene. His wife, Natalie has since paid tribute to her husband of more than 17 years in an emotional post on Facebook – calling him a “hero.” “Peter, my husband, my lover, my best friend, my partner in crime, my hero, I don’t know how to do life without you!” she wrote. “You have been my rock for the last 17-and-a-half years. No one has my back like you do! “You are the most amazing, fun, loving, beautiful daddy. I promise the kids will always know just how wonderful you are, our hero. “The kids and I love you forever and always, to the moon and back and back again, more than all the stars in the sky.” Most read in News 'GET OUT' Two Scarborough hotels evacuated as guests told 'get out quickly in bomb scare' 'I LOOKED DEAD' I didn't realise I was one of UK's worst rapist's victims until I saw pics DRESSING DOWN Parents STILL wearing dressing gowns to drop kids off despite being told off COP 'DATE RAPE' Wayne Couzens' Met Police colleague 'raped woman after Tinder date' HORROR ATTACK Woman beaten by thugs until her teeth 'pierced her cheek' after defending man TIGHT CHRISTMAS Britain WILL be hit by shortages this Christmas, Rishi Sunak admits Peter’s sister also added that her brother was “gentle and kind” and was devoted to his wife and kids. “Our family and friends are so heartbroken,” she said. “The world is a smaller place now.” As a final investigation is launched into the man’s death, NSW Ambulance say that the 33-year-old man did everything possible to save his son from drowning. “It appears the man has heroically held the young boy above the water when they’ve tipped over, saving his life,’ NSW Ambulance Inspector Andrew Craig said. “Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of bystanders and paramedics, the man was unable to be revived. “It was a very emotional scene and bystanders had done an excellent job in rendering first aid to the patient before paramedics arrived.” gofundmeIn a touching tribute Peter’s wife said ‘I promise the kids will always know just how wonderful you are, our hero.’[/caption] A GoFundMe page has now been launched to help the family get through the “toughest time in their lives.” At the time of writing, it has raised more than £14,000. “Peter was an amazing husband, an amazing dad and an amazing friend,’ the fundraiser page reads. “’He sacrificed his own life to save his little boy, heroism at its finest. “We understand that times are tough and if you can’t afford to donate that’s fine, a simple share could mean an extra $1. “We thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.” We pay for your stories!
