AT least 12 people have been crushed to death in a New Year’s Eve stampede at a shrine in India. Another 17 were left injured in the horror incident at the famous Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra. At least 12 people have died The tragic incident unfolded around 2.40am as people were marking the beginning of the new year. According to local reports, an argument broke out in the huge crowd, triggering a stampede. At least 12 people were killed in the crush, while more than a dozen people were rushed to hospital – with many wounds described as “serious”.
