Mr Chai was throwing the rubbish out when he first saw the Apple products hidden in the bin outside his flat on July 7. He immediately called his sister and after further rummaging through the litter, they found 30 brand new iPhones 14 Pro models. The siblings called the police, who discovered a local courier, Lui, had accidentally left them on the street the day before when he was arranging his packages. Lui had reportedly been paralyzed by fear by his mistake, knowing that he “would never be able to pay the cost of all the phones worth 350,000 yuan [£20,000],” South China Morning Post reports. His delivery company bosses had already discovered using CCTV that a cleaner had taken the boxes and they had tracked her down. In a strange twist of fate, the cleaner did not recognize the loot she was holding and dumped them all.
