I’m too big to fit down the aisle of planes – it’s discrimination that they don’t widen the gaps for larger travellers

A PLUS-SIZE influencer has claimed airlines are discriminating against larger travellers by not widening their plane aisles. TikToker “Big Curvy Olivia” shared a video showing her difficulty navigating the narrow plane walkway, which has sparked fierce discussion online. She was forced to twist her body to the side in order to make her way through the aisles. A supportive follower agreed with Olivia and said airlines should accommodate larger passengers. They replied: “Babe, you DESERVE your own row. They’ll catch on in time!” Another woman agreed: “That’s why I fly business or first class. I’m not as big, but I’m not small. Everyone is happy and I get peace!” A supporter said: “That’s something I can get behind.” One woman stated: “As a skinny person, I actually agree. I don’t think it’s discrimination, just annoying we’re all packed in like sardines.” But many viewers of Olivia’s video disagreed, and thought her accusation of airline discrimination towards bigger passengers couldn’t be supported. Another follower commented: “The problem is not the aisles…” One TikToker replied: “Those aisles are plenty wide, I’ve seen people squeeze past flight attendants carrying drinks during boarding.” Many pointed out that widening the aisles wasn’t in the best interest of the airlines, as they can fit more passengers with less aisle space. Someone said: “Wider aisles mean less seats. And they would be cutting into profits to accommodate the super sized. That wouldn’t make sense.” One woman just asked: “How is that discrimination?” Last year, a plus-size model shared how she was banned from boarding flights on a major airline unless she paid £2,500 for a bigger seat. Influencer Juliana Nehme, 38, vented online: “They are denying my right to travel. I’m desperate. Help me. They don’t want me to board because I’m fat. “I need to buy a business ticket. I don’t have this money. I don’t know what to do. There is only 30 minutes until the airplane takes off. “What a shame for a company like Qatar to allow this type of discrimination against people! I’m fat, but I’m just like everyone else!” Juliana was not refunded for her £830 ticket, but it is understood she managed to book onto another flight.
