A CAT owner has revealed she spent £2,500 to freeze dry her dead cat – even keeping him his preserved remains sitting on her nightstand. Soren High’s beloved pet Loki died in front of them earlier this year, and the pet owner says having Loki’s body back in the home helps them grieve. Soren said: “I witnessed my cat being killed by a dog I was fostering in front of my house late at night. “I was walk the dog, the dog saw a bunny, the dog got away from my leash, the bunny crossed my cat, my cat bolted, dog went after the cat, dog attacked my cat. “This has been one of the hardest losses of my life and I’ve never experienced anything like this before and since her death was such a sudden loss – even though she was 16 years old – I was not prepared for this.” Soren decided to document her process of getting Loki’s body freeze dried on TikTok, where it has gone viral. The pet owner went as far to freeze dry Loki’s heart, which caused Soren to burst into tears when they saw it. Soren gushed: “I am very, very, very happy to see her again, I’m very happy to wake up next to her every morning and I can pet her.” Pet owner Harriet Peace spent £4,000 stuffing her dead moggy after it was hit by a car, and says it’s money well spent. Harriet, from Ayrshire, in Scotland, says she opted to preserve the 9-year-old cat as she couldn’t bear the thought of burying him. She said: “He was like my child, it was a huge loss to me. “If you had the chance to have your pet preserved how it was before for the rest of your life, wouldn’t you do it?” The cat had no visible injuries and he just looked asleep after being struck in the 28-year-old’s village of Mauchline. The feline – mown down in September 2021 – is now preserved forever in a sleeping position with his eyes closed, thanks to the wonders of taxidermy.
