Incredible moment Russian soldier holding two grenades threatens to destroy city – but mayor urges people to fight on

INCREDIBLE footage shows a Russian soldier holding two hand grenades above his head as he demanded a Ukrainian city surrender. Despite the threats by Vladimir Putin’s forces to flatten Konotop, its mayor defiantly rallied people to keep fighting in a stirring speech. Video shows one of then walking through a jeering crowd shouting “shame” with a hand grenade in each hand above his head. He was accompanied by mayor Artem Semenikhin near Konotop’s local council building.  One person swore at the soldier and reportedly said: “Don’t walk around showing your grenade off.” Once the soldiers had left Semenikhin addressed a crowd near the building of and asked them if they wanted to fight. He told them “they have given us an ultimatum – if we start resisting they will pull the city to pieces with artillery”. As they run out of food and fuel, some have resorted to looting, while others are even reportedly sabotaging their own military equipment in a bid to get out of the war. Footage reportedly filmed in the city appears to show gun battles between Ukrainian and Russian forces on Wednesday.
