Justice Dept. Sues Texas Over River Border Structures Meant to Deter Illegal Crossings

In May 2021, Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster as a means to grant himself sweeping powers including the ability to build structures on private lands and allocate millions of dollars to border projects. Abbott renewed the order earlier this year.
