DRAMATIC footage shows a fresh drone strike on a skyscraper in Moscow. The huge overnight explosion ripped into the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, on the 21st floor of the Moscow City IQ Quarter high-rise tower, said reports. A drone strike hit a skyscraper in Moscow There were reports of fire and smoke after the strike, and major Moscow airport Vnukovo – used by Russian officials and VIPs – was temporarily closed.  Videos showed the moment of the explosion and a huge flash. The attack is hugely embarrassing for Vladimir Putin’s regime which is again shown to have failed to defend the Russian capital city against aerial attack. Russian officials bizarrely claimed the drone had been jammed by electronic warfare before smashing into the same tower as a UAV on 30 July. There were no immediate reports of casualties although ambulances were at the scene. An incoming drone was filmed over Odintsovo after midnight . Two drones were shot down in Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk, according to the Moscow authorities. The mayor said the facade of the IQ tower in the Moscow city skyscraper zone was damaged. Emergency services were working at the scene in the high rise official and elite residential Moscow City zone, said mayor Sergey Sobyanin. Astra media outlet reported a “surge” in orders away from the district following the strike. The Defence Ministry said: “Two Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed in the air by air defence systems over the territory of Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk districts of Moscow region. “Another drone was suppressed by electronic warfare and, having lost control, crashed on the territory of the Moscow City non-residential building complex.” Sobanyin said: “One flew into the same tower at the Moscow City complex hit previously.  “The facade has been damaged on the 21st floor. Glazing was destroyed over 150 square metres.” He said there were no casualties. Grey Zone Telegram channel – often critical of the official response to Ukrainian attacks – bemoaned the lack of an air raid alert before the strike. And it mocked the official claim that the drone had been jammed by electronic warfare technology before hitting the same tower as a  UAV two days earlier. “Moscow and the Moscow region were again massively attacked by drones of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine,” said the channel. Local residents were “outraged” that “for some reason the air raid alert is never activated”. “The reason for the lack of an air danger alert is most likely that the authorities believe it is not necessary to create tension and a sense of the war spilling over into Russian territory.” The channel said: “It is strange that for the second time in a row, when the signal is suppressed and the UAV loses control, they crash into the same high-rise building of the IQ quarter.” In the earlier attack, the offices of several other Russian government ministries were hit.
