THE US Navy has confirmed that a top secret system detected a sound indicating an implosion just hours after the Titan lost communication. A senior US Navy official told the Wall Street Journal that they “detected an anomaly consistent with an implosion or explosion in the general vicinity of where the Titan submersible was operating when communications were lost.” The top secret system was not named due to national security concerns. On board the undersea craft were billionaire adventurer Hamish Harding, businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, OceanGate’s chief executive and founder Stockton Rush, and French submersible pilot Paul-Henri Nargeolet.
