RUSSIA has used terrifying thermobaric weapons during the invasion of Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Defence. The tweet, accompanied by an informational video about the destructive weapon and its impact, reads: “The Russian MoD has confirmed the use of the TOS-1A weapon system in Ukraine. “The TOS-1A uses thermobaric rockets, creating incendiary and blast effects.” One of the fearsome launchers was seen being transported on the back of a lorry near Belgorod in Russia on February 26. Read more on Ukraine The TOS-1 Buratino rockets are some of the most deadly non-nuclear weapons that can be deployed on the modern battlefield. The killer weapon uses the oxygen of the surrounding air to produce a high-temperature explosion. The Buratino, unique to Russia’s military, is designed to obliterate heavily-fortified positions. The self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system (MRLS) has already deployed by Moscow’s generals in conflicts including Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iraq, and Syria.
