A van was swept into a canal in the village of Bubbiano – but fortunately, the driver managed to scramble to safety. And another motorist had a lucky escape when a tree fell onto their car in Cinisello Balsamo. The tornado began sweeping through the city at around 11am local time (10am BST), according to local media. The extent of the damage is unclear – but roofs have been ripped off many homes as fallen trees block roads.
