Tributes paid to ‘sweet’ boy, 10, crushed to death after getting trapped under lift at school

EMOTIONAL tributes are flooding in for the “sweet” disabled child who was killed in a horrific accident at a special needs school. Firefighters on the ground attempted to rescue the boy but he died on the spot. The young boy was the only child of Hasan Shahriar, a Sydney engineering manager, and Dr Yasmin Haque, a GP. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by friends of his parents who claimed the grief-stricken pair were “very vulnerable” and surrounded by family, The Mail reports. The heartbreaking news was confirmed on a Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) alumni Facebook group, where the child’s mother, Hasan, was a member. “With an extremely heavy heart, I am announcing the passing of the only son of our BUETian brother Hasan Shahriar in an incident at the school yesterday. “Please pray for the sweet little Sanad and Hasan Shahriar and Dr Yasmin.” The school authorities confirmed the child’s tragic death in a public statement earlier this week – and said the school premises would remain closed for the foreseeable future.
