Ukraine news latest — Russia faces ‘nuclear safety risk’ in Zaporizhzhia – while ‘sabotage’ causes disruption for Putin

A RUSSIAN officials has claimed there is a “risk for nuclear safety” as the Zaporizhzhia power station faces a fresh threat. Record high water levels could destroy a major dam in southern Ukraine and damage parts of the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, a Russian official told Tass agency. Renat Karchaa, an adviser to the general director of nuclear energy firm Rosenergoatom said that the power line to the station would be flooded if the dam ruptured. He added: “This (would create) functional problems for the operation of the plant and risks for nuclear safety.” This comes as Putin’s troops are facing “short-term localised disruption to Russian military rail movements” caused by sabotage according to the UK’s ministry of defence.
