Can you work out how many eggs are in this carton? Optical illusions are pictures or visuals that trick our brains into perceiving something different from what’s actually there.  This intriguing phenomenon happens through a process known as “filling-in,” in which the brain chooses particular elements from the visual information it gets from the eyes to highlight, IndiaTimes reports. First, begin by considering how many there would be if this were a 3D image, starting from the base. In a 4×4 arrangement, there would indeed be 16 eggs on the bottom alone. Moving up to the next row, where there are three eggs, applying the same logic would yield nine. Continuing, you have a 2×2 arrangement, which is four eggs plus the lone egg at the top.  When you add them all up, there are a total of 30 eggs.
